NEWS

Stricter Product Title Rules: What Sellers Need to Know

Amazon is cracking down on product titles! Starting January 21, 2025, titles must be under 200 characters, avoid special symbols (like !, $, ?), and limit word repetition. The goal? Cleaner, more readable listings. Sellers who don’t comply risk losing visibility.
What to do:

  • Check your titles now

  • Amazon will suggest fixes, but brand owners only have 14 days to act before changes are automatic.
Pro Tip: Keep titles clear and concise to avoid penalties and boost sales.

2Big Change to FBA Reimbursements

Amazon is shaking up how it reimburses sellers for lost or damaged inventory. Starting March 10, 2025, payouts will be based on manufacturing costs, not sales prices.
What this means:

  • Sellers must input manufacturing costs in Seller Central.

  • Reimbursements may be lower since shipping and handling costs aren’t included.
Good news: Automatic reimbursements are now available, saving you time on claims.
Action Step: Update your manufacturing costs ASAP to ensure accurate reimbursements.

New Fees for High-Return Products

Amazon is targeting high-return items with new fees. Starting June 2024, sellers with return rates above category thresholds (e.g., 4.7% for board games) will pay return processing fees. Apparel and shoes are exempt.
What to watch:

  • Use Amazon’s Return Insights tool to track your return rates.

  • Set criteria for returnless refunds to avoid fees.
Pro Tip: Focus on improving product quality and descriptions to reduce returns and dodge these fees.
